Here is the first piece of evidence I've seen to indicate that William Miller owned a mill. This is also from Lori Butler's recent trip to historical society in Elkton. It appears to be someone's old research notes. He sold it to Benjamin Miller who might be his brother. Any thoughts?

  1. This scanned page is actually three different index cards. The "Armstrong" name caught my eye. Is there not a William Armstrong Miller who is a descendant?

  2. Hey, you're right, Lori. I didn't catch that! Great analysis. Chalmers has checked Ancestry and they don't have the land records that these cards refer to...wonder if Salt Lake does??

  3. The local special collections librarian just taught me how to use the search feature on familysearch.org. Yikes, the whole library at our fingertips! It's possible that the record is on microfilm but I haven't looked it up yet.

  4. Hi Lori - The library putting records online is an ongoing project that will take them about 8 more years. As each record is digitized, them make it available, so if it isn't available now, it will be in the future, and we should check every now and then to see if it's been done. There might even be a request procedure. I'll check into that, or perhaps Don could ask around next time he is there. But yes, it's a miracle.
